Among landlocked salmon, landlocked salmon that take two years to grow to over 30 cm in length are called "shaku landlocked salmon" and are known as "fantastic fish. At a normal fish farm, the largest landlocked salmon weighs about 800 grams, but at Shakunage-no-mori, landlocked salmon weighing over 1 kg are shipped as "fantastic shaku landlocked salmon," with the largest weighing over 2 kg!

The landlocked salmon, also known as the "queen of mountain streams," is renowned as a high-class fish, characterized by its beautifully streamlined shape and its distinctive "parmarks," or spots. It is also famous for its delicious taste, which grows in the clear, cold rock water of mountain streams. Because of their small numbers and lack of market availability, these fish are generally not sold in supermarkets or department stores.
